    Farmland prices in East of England up over 22pc

    The price of farmland in the East of England has risen over 22 per cent in the last 12 months, making it the most expensive in the country.

    New figures from Savills shows that the average cost per acre of land in the region (excluding Herts and Essex) grew 22.2 per cent in 2013, taking it to £9,200 – far ahead of areas such as Scotland, where land is worth £4,560 an acre.

    Gold price to average between $1,000 and $1,400 in 2014

    The price of gold will average between $1,000 and $1,400 this year, according to experts.

    The London Bullion Market Association compiled predictions from gold analysts for the precious metal’s performance in 2014. The report follows a poor 2013 for gold, with values plunging by 28 per cent across the 12 months to $1,202.
