Gold boosted by Swiss surprise
Gold has received a boost following the surprise decision by Switzerland to end its currency cap against the euro.
The Swiss franc was pegged at 1.20 euros to avoid overvaluation, but as uncertainity surrounding the eurozone continues – fuelled by speculation over a possible Greek exit – the single currency has weakened, taking the Swiss franc with it. Precious metals bullish on Greek uncertainty
The precious metals industry is feeling bullish in response to Greece’s economic uncertainty.
Concerns surrounding the country’s financial health, combined with speculation on a possible exit from the euro and falling crude oil prices, have fuelled demand for safe havens among investors.
