Gold falls to five-year low
Gold values have fallen to a five-year low this week, as the dollar’s growth continues to build momentum. The currency has enjoyed steady increases against most other major currencies in the past year, fuelled by the recovering US economy.

Australia approves Chinese coal mine near prime farmland
The Australian government has approved a Chinese-run coal mine near prime farmland, a decision that has been branded “ridiculous” by Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce.
The Watermark mine is located near Gunnedah in New South Wale and will cost company Shenhua $1 billion Australia dollars. The deal was subject to 18 conditions that the government has said are among the strictest in the country’s history.
