World’s second largest gem found in Botswana
The world’s second-largest gem has been discovered in Botswana. The stone, which is 1,111 carats, was found by Lucara Diamond Corp. The diamond producers recovered the Type IIa diamond from the south lobe of its Karowe Mine.
The historic find is the largest ever gem quality diamond recovered in Botswana as well as through a modern processing facility in general, measuring 65mm x 56mm x 40mm in size.

Buyers go for gold around the world
Buyers are going for gold around the world, following a plunge in value for the precious metal.
The World Gold Council’s latest report show that total gold demand in Q3 2015 stood at 1,121 tonnes, an increase of 8 per cent year-on-year.
Investment demand rose 27 per cent to 230 tonnes, with bar and coin purchases were up by a third on Q3 2014 with Western markets in particular showing a surge. In the US, bar and coin demand reached its highest total in five years, up 207 per cent to 33t.

Gold gets seasonal boost
Demand for gold has received a seasonal boost this month, despite an overall decline in value and investment.
As Diwali approaches, demand from India has risen, as is tradition during this time of year. Indeed, the Indian wedding season also runs in the final quarter of the year, which also fuels physical demand for the precious metal.
